Camino Colombia (State Highway 255) is now a high-tech toll road. All tolls are collected electronically, so you never have to stop or slow down to pay at a toll booth. All you need to do is open a prepaid TxTag account.
How does it work? As you drive under the new toll gantry on the Camino Colombia toll road, a signal is sent to the microchip inside your TxTag and the toll is deducted from your prepaid account.
With a TxTag on your windshield, you can enjoy non-stop travel along Camino Colombia, which begins near the Colombia-Solidarity International Bridge and stretches 22 miles east to I-35 north of Laredo.
Important Notice:
Friday, January 29th is the last day motorists can pick up a TxTag at the Camino Colombia Toll Plaza Operations Building. The Texas Department of Transportation is permanently closing the roadside plaza building, since all tolls are now collected electronically. Drivers who wish to open a TxTag account in person can do so at the TxDOT Laredo Travel Information Center at I-35 North and U.S. 83 and the TxDOT District Office at 1817 Bob Bullock Loop.
A Camino Colombia Day Pass is another convenient option for prepaying tolls, especially for international customers. Learn more here or call 1-888-468-9824 (International: 001-512-874-9998).
Camino Colombia is part of the Texas Department of Transportation's plan to reduce traffic congestion, enhance safety, boost the local economy, improve air quality and give Texans the first-class transportation system they deserve.
